The website’s address is a niche website in the construction and quality control industry, where I sell documents that are called Inspection and Test Plan Templates that quality control engineers need to use at construction sites.
These are 37 documents divided into four disciplines as you can see in the top menu on the website:
Electrical (Total 12), Mechanical (Total 10), Civil (Total 9) and Instrumentation (Total 6).
Each one ITP has its own page and it is sold for $25.
I also have four packages that offer around 50%, one package for each discipline. Electrical Package for $150 (12 ITP’s), Mechanical Package for $125 (10 ITP’s), …etc.
I also created one main package that includes all the 37 Templates for around 51% off ($449).
Also, there’s an additional template called PQP (Project Quality Plan), which I’m offering for $49.
Please, note that until June 2024, I only had the 12 Electrical ITP’s and the Electrical package with 50% discount. In the last two months I added all the other templates, but I have only gotten two sales from the new ones as it still needs time to get them ranking in the first 3 positions on Google.
Most of my traffic comes from Google, Bing and Yahoo, and most of the pages are ranking on page 1 of Google, and for the old templates, it’s usually in position 1,2 and 3.
The monthly traffic is low due to the fact that these are specific documents for a very specific audience, but the RPM is relatively high.
For example, during July 2024 I got 1.3K visitors to the website, but the revenue is around $350, with the profit around $309. That’s an RPM of around $238 based on the profit.
With the new documents I added recently, the revenue is projected to increase in the few coming months, and the new owner can add Stripe as a payment gateway in addition to PayPal, which might increase the sales.
I can’t use Stripe as it is not available for merchants in my country (Jordan).
I use Payhip to host the documents and deliver them to the buyer, I have buy buttons embedded on each product’s page on the website, but the new owner can choose any other platform to deliver the products such as Shopfiy, Gumroad, Sellfy, …etc.
I used to use Sellfy in the past, and since August 2023, I started testing Payhip for some products to test the conversion rate, finally, I think in May 2024, I moved completely to Payhip as it has a cleaner dashboard and they have a free plan (but they take 5% fee on each sale, in addition to PayPal’s fee)
The buyer can also list the documents on Etsy and get customers from there.
I can’t use Etsy because they are not available for merchants in my country (Jordan).
You can also promote these documents through LinkedIn as most QA/QC professionals are there.
Also, you could start creating content (blog posts) about inspection and quality control and rank them on Google to get more traffic, and then promote either the templates, or even offer services or advertise training programs for professionals in the space.
Total hours of work needed per month: 1 Hour to update WP, theme and plugins.
The expenses are:
- Hosting ($6/month Namecheap Managed WP hosting)
- PayPal fees on each transaction (around 5%), you can add Stripe if you have an account.
- Payhip fees on each sale (5%), but the new site owner can host the products on any platform they choose, or on their own server and can add a PayPal button to receive the payments.
